Overview & Highlights
The Nangma Valley Trek is one of the most striking short trekking routes in northern Pakistan, located in the remote Hushe region of Gilgit-Baltistan within the Karakoram Range. This valley is widely known for its dramatic granite spires, alpine meadows, and untouched wilderness, which together create a landscape often compared to Yosemite-style mountain scenery.
Firstly, the journey to Nangma Valley starts from Skardu and moves through the scenic Khaplu Valley before reaching Kanday Village, which serves as the main trekking gateway. From here, trekkers leave the road network behind and step into a completely natural alpine environment. As the trail progresses, it gradually climbs through green pastures, glacial streams, and open valleys, allowing a smooth transition from village life to high-altitude wilderness.
Moreover, Nangma Valley stands out because of its unique geological structure. The valley features massive granite walls and vertical rock towers, including the famous Amin Brakk, which attracts international climbers due to its technical difficulty and dramatic presence. Consequently, the valley offers a rare combination of trekking and mountaineering scenery in one destination.
In addition, the trekking route remains moderately difficult, which makes it suitable for both beginners with good fitness levels and experienced trekkers. The gradual elevation gain helps trekkers acclimatize properly while still experiencing high-altitude terrain. Typically, the trek reaches around 3,900 to 4,000 meters at the base camp, where panoramic views of surrounding peaks and glaciers open up.
Furthermore, the valley stays less commercialized compared to other trekking destinations in Pakistan. As a result, trekkers experience pure wilderness, complete silence, and uninterrupted views of granite landscapes throughout the journey. This makes Nangma Valley one of the most peaceful trekking destinations in the Karakoram.
Finally, Skardu Trekkers, recognized as one of the best trekking agencies in northern Pakistan, organizes fully guided expeditions to Nangma Valley. The team manages transportation, camping equipment, meals, and professional guides, ensuring a safe and well-organized experience for all travelers.
K6 Base Camp Extension
Additionally, trekkers can extend their journey towards the K6 Base Camp, where they experience even more dramatic alpine scenery and closer views of glaciers and towering peaks. This extension adds extra adventure and makes the overall trek more rewarding for those seeking a deeper Karakoram experience.
Overall, the Nangma Valley Trek delivers a perfect balance of accessibility, adventure, and natural beauty, making it one of the best short trekking experiences in Gilgit-Baltistan for 2026.
